The Academy of Academic Excellence Awards provides an opportunity for OMSE to annually recognize the academic excellence of multi-ethnic students within the University of Maryland Community. Students are recognized for academic excellence in 2 categories
OMSE will bestow 5 medals for outstanding contributions to the academic excellence of multi-ethnic students in the categories of Mentor, Tutor, Staff, Faculty, and Department/Organization.
This year's ceremony will be held on April 23, 2012.
2012 OMSE Excellence in Service Awards-Nominations Being Accepted!
The Office of Multi-ethnic Student Education (OMSE) invites University of Maryland UNDERGRADUATE students to submit nominations for University of Maryland faculty, tutors, mentors, and staff members who have made outstanding contributions to the academic excellence of multi-ethnic students on campus.
Candidates will be judged on their service to multi-ethnic students in the areas of teaching, tutoring, mentoring, and significant academic involvement. The letter of nomination should answer the following questions: 1.) Explain the nominee's achievements as related to their respective category (faculty, tutor, etc.) 2.) How has this person has contributed to the academic excellence of you and others? Not only should the letter of nomination answer these two questions, but it should be an inspired account of the person's service to academic excellence-an anecdote beyond their CV credentials. The letter of nomination should include the nominee's academic department and contact information, as well as the nominator's contact information.
DEADLINE TO RSVP: April 6, 2012 at 5 p.m. RSVPs are only accepted through this form. Recipients will receive their awards at our 2012 Academic Excellence Awards program on April 23, 2012, 5 p.m., University of Maryland, Colony Ballroom-Stamp Student Union.
