The 6th Annual Native American Indian (NAI) Symposium and Poster Competition will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in McKeldin Library, on the 6th floor in the multi-purpose room from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the University of Maryland College Park. This program will provide an excellent opportunity for NAI students k-12 to become familiar with the challenges of college life and networking with college students. Because of the small number of NAI college students on the UM campus, this exciting symposium is a strong thrust from OMSE to prevent disengagement and encourage college students to experience service learning. This one-day symposium is designed to increase the amount of time visiting students’ visit on a university campus with but their parents and guardians as well. This symposium will also connect the visiting students with NAI scholars, faculty, community leaders and others to enhance high standards, high expectations and excellence with the hopes of them continuing their academic and social journey at the University of Maryland.
In addition, each visiting NAI student will participate in the OMSE Poster Competition:
THEME: “Is It A Challenge to Be Native”
The best presentation and verbal artistic expression will be determined by University of Maryland students, faculty, staff and community leaders and will start promptly at 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Program starts at 3:30 pm. ALL ARE WELCOME to attend this most exciting event.
