College Success Scholars (CSS)

The College Success Scholars program provides comprehensive, structured, and ongoing personal, academic, and professional support to students at the University of Maryland.

The curriculum is centered on supporting the brilliance of the scholars and developing resiliency, agency, purpose, and brotherhood.  The  curriculum is experientially- and theoretically-based with an emphasis on the various issues facing young adults in higher education.

The scholars engage in dialogues, readings, and activities pertaining to higher education, oppression, values, leadership, time management, conflict resolution, anger management, peer pressure, academic excellence, stress, coping mechanisms, goal setting, public speaking , racial identity, diversity in higher education, and financial management.

Scholars are expected to always strive for personal, academic, and professional excellence.  The parents’ advisory working group is an important component to ensure the personal, professional and academic excellence of the scholars
